Cinema Sounds #009 – Mogwai: “Stanley Kubrick”

Part of our ongoing Cinema Sounds series, Paul Gonter brings us “Stanley Kubrick,” the opening track from Mogwai’s 1999 album EP.

The Artist: Mogwai’s just not that into you
The Influence: the unmistakable Stanley Kubrick
The Result: the happy ending The Shinning never had

Post rock bands are ripe for soundtracks, that’s obvious. It’s probably why Explosions in the Sky formed. Mogwai has done few of their own, even sharing the bill with Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Sigur Ros on The Fountain soundtrack. Talk about legitimacy: setting the mood for Hugh Jackman’s tears!

EP is available for purchase on iTunes.
