"Best described as Home Alone meets Michael Haneke's Funny Games... Upending expectations in more ways than one, [filmmaker Chris] Peckover's script...throws out a major boondoggle that makes it hard to fully believe what's happening onscreen"
"This macabre Christmas movie...seems destined to become one of those Yuletide perennials for people who like their holiday-themed entertainment as perversely un-wholesome as possible"
"You might think you're in for an icky, misogynist torture porn... But stick it out, because the film will continue to defy your expectations"
This holiday season, you may be home, but you are not alone. Set in a quiet American suburb on a snowy evening leading up to Christmas, babysitter Ashley (Olivia DeJonge, The Visit) must defend a 12-year-old boy, Luke (Levi Miller) when intruders break into the houseor so she thinks. She soon discovers that this is far from a normal home invasion, a situation way above her paygrade, in this fresh and gleefully twisted (and subversive) spin on the home-invasion horror thriller. Better Watch Out also costars Virginia Madsen, and Patrick Warburton as Luke's parents, as this inventive yuletide film delightfully defies your expectations.
