Advanced Film Studio (Ages 13-17)

Film Production • Acting • Pre/Post Production • Film Festivals • Film Critique

Available July, 2026

Immerse yourself in the art of independent filmmaking! Advanced Film Studio invites teens to expand their knowledge of cinema while gaining hands-on experience in every stage of filmmaking from concept development to final edit.

In this collaborative, creativity-driven program, participants pitch original ideas, develop production workflows, and work together in dedicated film teams. Campers learn to assign roles based on strengths, problem-solve on set, and adapt to the ever-changing demands of filmmaking. Throughout the course, students explore cinematic techniques, learn new editing software, and analyze both short and feature-length films to strengthen their understanding of critique, structure, and story.

Film Studio also provides an insider look at film festivals—from the Academy Awards to Chicago’s local circuit—offering a deeper understanding of how films find their audiences and the pathways available to emerging filmmakers. This program is designed to nurture creative independence, collaboration, and technical skill while giving students first-hand experience producing a short film from start to finish.

Participants of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome; no prior filmmaking experience is required.
