Kicking off the night is a rarely screened animated feature that explores friendship, sacrifice, mortality, and what it truly means to live through the story of two unlikely companions. By turns funny, heartbreaking, and profoundly philosophical, it moves from laughter to existential reflection in a single breath.

From there, Anime Club’s ode to cats unfolds with an eclectic lineup of shorts and episodes celebrating the internet’s favorite animal long before the internet existed. This includes the definitive animated adaptation of a beloved cat-obsessed manga artist’s work—a dreamlike, emotionally devastating journey through life, death, and feline logic—as well as the second installment of a chaotic feline comedy following a troublemaking orange cat whose antics make Garfield look restrained.

We’ll also present a special screening connected to a cult favorite appearing later in the series, offering an early glimpse into the bizarre, punk-infused world of a certain cosmic cat heroine.

Film posters will be raffled off after the screening. Attendees can enter by purchasing a concession for $6 or more.
