Expand your creativity and learn to produce animated short films from start to finish. In this immersive workshop, you’ll build a solid foundation in animated film production, develop original stories, and learn a workflow used by professional studios.

Study the techniques behind iconic work from Sony Animation Studios, Disney & Pixar, and LAIKA, while also exploring the bold innovations of independent animators. You’ll discuss global animation traditions and examine experimental approaches outside the Hollywood system.

Anime fans—this workshop is for you! Dive into the creative processes behind Studio Ghibli, Toei Animation, MAPPA, and other legendary Japanese studios, and gain insight into how anime is crafted from concept to final cut.

Our goal is to inspire open-minded, innovative, and collaborative young filmmakers eager to discover their voice in the world of animation. No prior experience required.

TECH SPECS

  • Internet access required (provided onsite).
  • Participants may use any device (iPad, Android, iPhone, or laptop), though larger screens are preferred.
  • In-house desktops with editing software will be available for timed use.
  • Our camp uses free online animation tools: Wick Editor and Stop Motion Studio – accounts recommended; requires a username and email address.
  • Adobe Premiere for post-production editing – no license required.
  • If using alternate software, participants must confirm software name and accessibility before the program begins.
