At Facets Virtual Summer Camps, kids ages 8–14 learn how to tell their stories through film
Monday, June 15, 2020: FACETS’ six new Virtual Summer Camps for ages 8-14 provide families a fun, safe, and affordable option to learn valuable 21st Century storytelling skills this summer. Bringing FACETS’ over 30 years of experience in film and media education online with live interactive instruction, each camp is taught on Zoom by FACETS‘ expert media educators and focus on different key elements of the pre- and post-production process. Camps range from three to five days and cost between $100 and $450, with discounts available for FACETS Members.
“There are many ways to tell a story using filmmaking techniques, from character development to cinematography, sound, and editing,” says Kathleen Beckman, FACETS Education Director. “At FACETS Virtual Summer Camps kids will learn the tools to tell a story in their own unique way. Whether it’s a fun or silly story, a story based on a personal experience, or a story that makes a statement about the world today, with the knowledge of film and filmmaking gained at our camps, kids and teens can continue to communicate what’s important to them in these challenging times.”
Enrollment is now open for all six Virtual Summer Camps, as well as Film 101, FACETS’ flagship summer camp, now celebrating 27 years. At this hybrid in-person and virtual summer camp, kids and teens ages 8-14 explore the exciting world of film with fun activities developed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and media literacy, running Monday-Friday, August 3-14, 2020.
