FACETS PRESENTS CICFF ENCORE MATINEES

In-Person screenings at FACETS’ cinema on Saturdays & Sundays, December 4-5, 11-12, & 18-19, 11:00 AM & 1:00PM

CHICAGO—FACETS is celebrating their Oscar-Qualifying Chicago International Children’s Film Festival (CICFF) by introducing a new series for family audiences, CICFF Encore Matinees. This series will include Bragi Thor Hinriksson’s feature, Birta (2021), an uplifting Icelandic holiday drama, and the CICFF38 Award Winners Shorts program, which consists of seven short films, including Liv Ullmann Peace Prize winner A Stone in the Shoe. In-person screenings will occur at FACETS’ cinema on Saturdays & Sundays, December 4-5, 11-12, & 18-19, 11:00 AM & 1:00PM. These films are also available to stream online through Vimeo. Synopsis: CICFF38 Award Winning Shorts 

The CICFF38 Award Winning Shorts program is a collection of some of the best award-winning short films from CICFF38! This selection represents a range of animation, live-action, and documentary for younger viewers. It includes winners from the Children’s and Professional Juries, along with the winners of the Best Production for Young Children and Embrace Awards. Films in this program:

Synopsis: Birta

Birta, CICFF38 festival favorite, is an uplifting holiday drama that highlights the importance of spending time with family. Strong and responsible Birta seeks ways to raise money after overhearing her mother worrying about financial problems and not being able to afford the family Christmas.
