From prejudices to secrets and silences, filmmaker Jeanne Leblanc (Isla Blanca) examines the life of these small towns governed by appearances and good thinking.
Les Nôtres (Our Own) is about 13-year-old Magalie (Emilie Bierre), who will soon find out that she will have no choice but to take back the reins of her own life. Magalie is a popular blonde teen who is keeping a shocking secret. She is pregnant, but when she refuses to identify the real father, suspicions among the townsfolk come to a boiling point as the layers of a carefully maintained social vemeer begin to crack, eventually exposing the hypocrisy of this town.
Les Nôtres astutely exhumes the racism that lurks under the surface of complacency that is enforced in the suburban lifestyle of this community. From prejudices to secrets and silences, filmmaker Jeanne Leblanc examines the life of these small towns governed by appearances and good thinking. The community of Sainte-Adeline has always remained united, but this time, it will have to face a situation that will put it face to face with their own contradictions in this “social suspense” thriller.
