OPTICAL NOISE is here to cut through the modern fog of media static, soulless algorithms, online echo chambers and guide you to only the best underground, cult, and indie cinema. This monthly program lives in the shadowy, weird alleyway between the arthouse, the underground, the museum, and the midnight movie. It positions itself not as a vanguard or tastemaker but as a booster of the strange, the incendiary, and the forgotten films that offer substance warranting analysis and discussion.
This is not a passive series, but one that invites discussion and engagement by regularly bringing filmmakers, critics, academics, and artists to speak about the films and/or lead open audience discussions. The goal is to not only showcase the history of envelope pushing cinema and emerging filmmakers on the bleeding edge of underground cinema but to also create a community and culture of conversation around it all. Reject the mainstream and embrace the noise.
