Coinciding with the Horror Pop-Up Market on Saturday, October 15, 2022, FACETS celebrates filmmaker Jim Wynorski and actress Kelli Maroney with two virtual Q&As and three sci-fi/horror screenings of Forbidden World (1982) at 4:30pm, Chopping Mall (1986) at 6:30pm, and Night of the Comet (1984) at 9:00pm. 

Forbidden World is the first produced screenplay of Jim Wynorski and marks the beginning of his collaborations with Roger and Julie Corman. Chopping Mall is Wynorski’s second directorial effort, after The Lost Empire (1984), and was produced by Julie Corman, and it’s where his and Kelli Maroney’s paths first cross. They reunite on various films including Not of This Earth (1988) and Transylvania Twist (1989). Jim has directed over 150 features and continues making films to this day. 

Kelli Maroney is one of the most beloved final girls, in large part thanks to her characters in Chopping Mall and Night of the Comet. She’s a full-blooded action hero in Chopping Mall and the endearing kid sister everyone loves in Night of the Comet. Her film debut is Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), and she also appears in Slayground (1983), The Zero Boys (1986), and recent documentary hits In Search of Darkness (2019) and In Search of Darkness: Part II (2020) exploring 1980s horror cinema.
