The series follows a quiet, withdrawn schoolgirl whose life begins to shift after she receives a message from someone who shouldn’t be able to send one. As she drifts deeper into a shadowy digital realm—one where rumors move faster than truth and the boundary between physical life and online existence begins to dissolve—the question becomes less what is real and more where the self actually lives. CRT monitors flicker, cables coil through empty rooms, and the hum of a network you can’t quite see grows louder and louder. 

Cryptic, hypnotic, and eerily prophetic, this cult favorite anticipated many of the anxieties of the modern internet long before social media or smartphones existed. Its stark visual design, experimental storytelling, and unforgettable atmosphere helped define cyber-existential anime at the turn of the millennium—and continue to inspire viewers discovering it decades later. 

This all-day marathon marks the first time Anime Club has attempted something on this scale, giving members the rare chance to experience the full journey together on the big screen.
