Hosted by Chicago Film Critic Association member Lee Shoquist, we will look at the standout performances, behind the scenes politics and groundbreaking storytelling that define the year in cinema. Whether you’re rooting for your favorite movie or just love the Awards season buzz, this event is your backstage pass to Hollywood’s biggest night!
Ticket includes pre-event reception with complimentary Prosecco and Popcorn and a post-event Dessert Bar Reception to meet event guests, bid on film lover-themed gift baskets and finalize your entry for a “Guess the Winners” contest. Each ticket purchase includes a $25 contribution to FACETS’ 50th Anniversary Fund.
Lee Shoquist is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association, editor of ChicagoFilm.com and leads 15 monthly film discussion groups across the Chicago area. Lee has spoken at a variety of venues, including Facets, Women’s Athletic Club, The Fortnightly of Chicago, Michigan Shores Club, Lake Shore Country Club, Google HQ and Cinema Chicago, as well as private member groups, theaters and community organizations. He has also served as a juror for the Chicago International Film Festival and programmer for the Reeling Film Festival. In his film discussions, Lee offers an in-depth look at a movie’s origins, themes, and production, as well as its broader cultural and historical context. Each awards season, he shares in-depth perspectives of the movie year’s themes and contenders, as well as predicted winners.
