Shot on a shoe-string budget over two weeks  in a rented house in Los Angeles, Blue Film follows a single night in the life of dom camboy Aaron Eagle (Kieron Moore), who accepts $50,000 to spend the night with one of his fans, Hank (Reed Birney), only to realize the two have a shared past. 

Filmed with moody shades of blue by DP Ryan Jackson-Healy, throughout this two-hander both Aaron, whose real name is Alex, and Hank slowly take off their masks, real and metaphorical, as their revealing conversation makes way to other intimacies. Newcomer Moore has the same tender ferocity of a young Ben McKenzie, while Tony-winner Birney lets his freak flag fly, fully embracing the pathetic, squirm-inducing internal logic of this love-lorn pederast. With its daring dialogue, Blue Film explores dominance and desire, sex and love, and all the shades of nuance that fall in between. 

In a conversation with High Femme, writer-director Elliot Tuttle said that his approach to sex in the film stemmed from the fact that for both of his characters “The sex is how they both live.” Blue Film then asks its audience not necessarily to empathize with one over the other, but to understand them both, to see their commonalities, but more importantly the stark differences. 

Blue Film premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2025 and also screened at Newfest 2025 in New York City.  Mark Duplass served as a consulting producer.
