Nobody could have anticipated the lasting impact of Home Alone.  Written and produced by Chicago filmmaking icon John Hughes and directed by relative newcomer and Spielberg protégé Chris Columbus, Home Alone held the title of “top-grossing live-action comedy” for 27 years after its release in 1990. It elevated Chicago’s reputation as a burgeoning filmmaking hub and gave rise to countless film industry careers. And 35 years on, it remains a nostalgic if not ubiquitous holiday classic beloved by generations.

In this FREE special holiday edition of FACETS’ Chicago On Screen, local crew members re-unite to talk about the making of the film, insider knowledge on how “Kevin” created those beloved booby traps, and share their behind-the-scenes perspective on the legacy of filmmaker John Hughes. This fun for all ages Panel will be moderated by Rich Moskal, former Chicago Film Office Director and current FACETS Board Co-Chair.

Part of DCASE and the Chicago Cultural Center’s Open House programming. For more information on all the day’s events, please click here.
