An ominous Man in Black in the subway hands out golden tickets to a horror film at a newly renovated theater. When the guests arrive, they discover the concession stand is replaced by state-of-the-art vending machines, and the only staff person in sight is a redheaded usher with an evil look in her eye. The lobby is decorated with a dirt-bike samurai holding a grotesque mask of polished chrome, and the film within the film sees curious youngsters at the tomb of Nostradamus finding a similar mask that turns the wearer into an “instrument of evil” who spreads pestilence and contaminates the world. Life imitates art as the sex worker who tries on the mask in the lobby morphs into a demon who spews green foam and claws the contagion into the strangers trapped with her in the cinema.
