“Delightfully daft and a hell of a lot of fun.” – Simon Peterson, Den of Geek
This DIY deep-space oozer evokes Ridley Scott’s Alien and foreshadows John Carpenter’s The Thing.
A high-security research lab on a desert planet is terrorized by their latest test subject, a “metamorph” that changes its genetic structure as it grows. Forbidden World is a kaleidoscope of recycled and original material, matter-of-fact in its buckets of blood and gelatinous gore that melts the human form, interrupted periodically by frenzied editing that plants subliminal images from other sections of the film, set to an out-of-this-world prog rock score by Susan Justin, and connected via obligatory futuristic corridors covered in modular padding made of bubble wrap, egg cartons, and takeout containers!
Forbidden World is the first produced screenplay of Jim Wynorski, and the film received three nominations at the 10th Annual Saturn Awards: Best Low-Budget Film, Best Film Special Effects, and Best Film Make-Up. The cast include Tony O’Dell (Chopping Mall) and Michael Bowen (Night of the Comet).
