What if the day you were born also marked your country’s historic step into a united Europe?

On May 1, 2004, about 50 children were born in Lithuania. On the same day, Lithuania became a full-fledged member of the European Union. At the discretion of director Arūnas Matelis, the production team that recorded the birth of many babies kept visiting some of them every few years. After 20 years, the director Eimantas Belickas together with the screenwriter Ramunė Rakauskaitė selected the most outstanding young people who already have something to say about their first steps into adulthood. This is a picture of the first EU generation in Lithuania.

Eimantas Belickas, Lithuania, 2024, 87 minutes. In Lithuanian with English subtitles.
