FACETS is excited to bring Chicago a new monthly event, Film Trivia at FACETS’ café, hosted by Raphael Jose Martinez and Mike Vanderbilt. The inaugural Film Trivia night will take place at 7:00 PM in FACETS’ newly renovated café, followed by a screening of Toshio Matsumoto’s transgressive classic Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) in the FACETS Cinema at 9:00 PM. Film Trivia Night is free and first-come, first served, and tickets for Funeral Parade of Roses are $7 /general public and free for FACETS Members.

7:00 PM – Film Trivia Night: Test your film knowledge against your friends & fellow cinephiles for both bragging rights & prizes! Questions from the arthouse to the multiplex. From current cinema news to the nitrate nights of yesteryear. FACETS Film Trivia is here to push your brain ’til the celluloid snaps! Its free, its BYOB, its trivia at 24 frames a second.

9:00 PM – Funeral Parade of Roses in-person screening: Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) feels like a true miracle for simply having been made. A headlong dive into a dazzling, unseen Tokyo night world of drag bars and fabulous divas, fueled by booze, drugs, fuzz guitars, performance art, and black mascara. Director Toshio Matsumoto’s film has become a cult classic within the trans community and has a lasting power many current mainstream trans narratives have failed to attain.

Admission to Film Trivia Night is free and does not require an RSVP. Pre-sale tickets for Funeral Parade of Roses can be purchased here: https://facets.org/programs/funeral-parade-of-roses/
