My Degeneration (1989) 

Underground filmmaker/art terrorist Jon Moritsugu reimagines a rise-and-fall showbiz narrative as a scuzzy, 16mm skullfuck opus set in the lo-fi punk world, as an all-girl punk band called Fetish makes it big and becomes a commercial pawn of the American beef industry. Meanwhile, one of the band members carries on a clandestine love affair with a rotting pig’s head. Many movies have been made about punk rock. This movie feels like punk rock: dirty, angry, righteous, handmade, exhilarating.

The feature presentation will be preceded by a special video intro from the filmmaker recorded just for this screening, as well as Moritsugu’s 45-second short film “CRACK” (1998).

A scuzzy injection of “punk attitude” into the flabby, regimented process of corporate filmmaking.

There is one live musical performance to accompany the screenings. Ticketholders for the early screening are invited to stay late and ticketholders for the late screening are invited to arrive early in order to enjoy the music.

Accessibility: All screenings will have English open captions. Masks are required indoors when not eating or drinking. The building and theater are accessible via ramps. The bathrooms are accessible via a heavy door, have a larger stall with grab bars but are not fully wheelchair accessible.
