Tiny moviegoers, big imaginations! On Sunday, June 1st, join FACETS and Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble for My First Movies, a playful and engaging film experience designed especially for children ages 2–5.

Featuring a gentle lineup of animated shorts about lovable animal friends and natural wonders, this program introduces toddlers to the magic of storytelling through cinema. Before and after the screening, families are invited to stop by our art table to create animal-themed crafts, while during the screening, little ones can move, dance, and play along with interactive, movement-based activities led by Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble—encouraging joyful participation throughout.

Designed with first-time moviegoers in mind, the space offers room to wiggle and explore, with dim (but not dark) lighting for a cozy, welcoming experience. Caregivers and children can enjoy whimsical, heartwarming stories together in a safe environment that sparks creativity, connection, and a lifelong love for cinema.

Shorts program 39 minutes + 20 minute interactive music activities.

SCREENING ACTIVITIES

Before and after the screening, join us in the FACETS Lounge for art and movement fun designed especially for little ones! Kids can create their own animal masks, try simple nature-themed crafts, and take part in playful, movement-based activities led by Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble.

While children explore, play, and sip on juice boxes, grown-ups can relax nearby with a coffee or cocktail in hand.
