Friday, October 24th, Sweet Void Cinema returns to FACETS to present a series of shorts largely made in Chicago, from experimental to narrative.

Images include people almost throwing up, Halloween parties, Harrison Ford’s gorgeous mug and men running away from their responsibilities (dogsitting).

THE FILMS

Block 1 – Total Runtime 64 mins

After Party (Jonah Koslofsky, 21 mins)

Three pairs of twenty-somethings navigate awkward situations at the first Halloween party after COVID.

Allowed Third Parties (Rob Steinberg, 2.5 mins)

A look at the magical world of digital footprints. Sponsored by Palantir

Queasy Jack (Jack Warner, 13 mins)

A filmmaker takes you behind the scenes of his new social media project

Patron Saint Buffalo Bill (Lily McCauley, 4 mins)

The image of Buffalo Bill is reclaimed and transformed into a celebration of Transsexual Monstrosity.

Touch Grass (Noel Sevilla, 5 mins)

Online shill finally touches grass

Kin Keeping 001 (Grace K. Schuler, 7 mins)

A combination of archival film and footage from a road trip I took with my sister last year. When I went on this road trip I’d been thinking a lot about the paths taken and decisions made that resulted in where I was in that moment. Now more than ever have I been dwelling on that idea; both in the context of family lineage and the state of the world.

PINK PONY NIGHTS (Ben Creech, 3 mins)

Everyone’s got one special thing – Dirk Diggler is part of a different Pink Pony Club. A collision between Chappell Roan’s hit song and Mark Wahlberg’s camp acting from Boogie Nights

Limited Time Offer Act Now (Aaron Wertheimer, 8 mins)

Charles Henderson is an average everyday guy living in the suburbs. After receiving an urgent piece of mail, he realizes his life may not be quite what it seems, and embarks on a desperate search to uncover his true reality.

Block 2 – Total Runtime 64 mins

DogHouse (John Plester, 11.5 mins)

After losing their dog while house sitting, Jake will do anything to get Hannah and Chris their beloved Cooper back, even if it means becoming a dog himself.

Bozos on the Bus (Max Van Loan, 3 mins)

A realization of the idiom common in 12-step recovery programs that conveys an egalitarian regard for the coexisting brilliance and absurdity of each fellow.

The Muppet (Dan Black, 5 mins)

In season two, episode two of FOX Network’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Tara Reid is plunged into freezing water and asked to remember what the acronym MUPPET stands for. JoJo Siwa, Tom Sandoval, and Blac Chyna watch. Reid fails the task. We metabolize our horrific past into the garbage of the present.

Harrison Ford’s Wavelength (Jake Panek, 21 mins)

A remake of Michael Snow’s Wavelength

Tomahawk Clouds (Eric Marsh, 8 mins)

George Sherman’s western Tomahawk (1951, Universal Pictures) recut as a landscape film.

Executive Dysfunction (Dylan Maris, 2.5 mins)

After two figures agree to work together, they bring gas to a mutual executive.

We Live Here Now (Justin Senkbile, 12.5 mins)

Abandoned by the roommate she’d been expecting to live with, Caroline finds herself stuck in a new city alone, in an apartment and neighborhood she can’t afford.
