A deceptively simple story of revenge beyond death, The Crow‘s masterful mix of Gothic horror, comic book flick, and otherworldly love story transcends the confines of any particular genre, arriving at an idiosyncratic style of its own.  

On the evening before their wedding, rock star Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) and his beautiful fiancée are viciously murdered in their loft apartment by a roving gang of arsonist thugs. Exactly one year later, a magic crow arrives, supernaturally summoning Eric from the grave to exact his own fire-fueled vengeance. Uniquely capturing the uneasy German Expressionist elements of Detroit’s post-industrial decay, The Crow‘s basic narrative is elevated by Lee’s pathos-laden performance, his lithe masculinity and emotional vulnerability infusing every scene with an indelible sense of epic loss. 

Featuring a blistering soundtrack including The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and Chicago’s industrial legends My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, The Crow‘s hard-earned status as a beautifully moody cult film has only grown over time, and deserves to be seen and heard on the big screen.
