In-Person Screening

Unapologetic X Something to Move In

Screening May 22, 2022

“O’Shay uses a single handheld cam for the majority of the film, imbuing “Unapologetic” with an immediacy comparable to its subject matter, and an intimacy similar to her two subjects. ” – Robert Daniels, RogerEbert.com

Watch Kartemquin’s Unapologetic and Full Spectrum Feature’s Something to Move In, two films that explore political activism, one focusing on recent and one on past revolutionary activities.

After two police killings, Black millennial organizers challenge a Chicago administration complicit in state violence against its Black residents. Told through the lens of Janaé and Bella, two fierce abolitionist leaders, the Kartemquin Films production Unapologetic is a deep look into the Movement for Black Lives, from the police murder of Rekia Boyd to the election of mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Featured in Full Spectrum Features Chicagoland Shorts Vol. 4 collection and commissioned by the Chicago Film Archives, Something to Move In is a musical manifesto that remixes late 1960s political dialogue with modern dance to resuscitate a bygone revolutionary thrust.

The screening of Unapologetic will be preceded by the short film Something to Move In with a total runtime of 91 mins.

Unapologetic, Ashley O’Shay, 2020, USA, 86 mins.

Something to Move In, Latham Zearfoss, 2014, USA, 5 mins
