“Tetsuro Takeuchi combines punk-rock-attitude with elements of various different genres, reminiscent of the way music videos were shot in the 1980s and 1990s (a lost art indeed) and delivering a wonderfully chaotic, very entertaining feature.” – Rouven Linnarz, AsianMoviePulse.com

FACETS Film Trivia is back with our classic brand of infotainment quiz show fun, followed up by an after-trivia screening of the 1999 Japanese cult horror comedy Wild Zero featuring music by Bikini Kill, Greg Cartwright, and of course, Guitar Wolf.

Only legendary Japanese garage rock band Guitar Wolf can stand between a race of aliens from destroying earth with an army of zombies. Japanese music video director Tetsuro Takeuchi applies his talents to this edgy, fast-paced, dizzying film about Ace (Masashi Endô), a young man who worships the popular Guitar Wolf (played by the real-life members of a group sporting the same name).

This screening will be preceded by a recorded introduction from film critic Harmony Colangelo, who wrote the piece ‘Finding a Love Without Borders in Wild Zero’, and a screening of Kansas Bowling’s music video, ‘The Resort Beyond the Resort’ (2018).

Tetsuro Takeuchi, Japan, 1999, 98 mins.

Screening in Japanese with English subtitles.
