Director, producer, writer, and Chicagoan Lilly Wachowski is co-creator of the groundbreaking and acclaimed film franchise The Matrix (2001-2021). With sibling Lana, the Wachowskis’ innovative visual style and ambitious storytelling are now cultural trademarks of their many film and television collaborations, including Bound (1996), Speed Racer (2008), Cloud Atlas (2012), Jupiter Ascending (2015), and Sense8 (2015-2018).
While many of the Wachowskis’ works feature or are inspired by Chicago, where the siblings were born and grew up, Lilly’s critically lauded Showtime series Work in Progress (2019-2021) is Chicago through and through. Produced by Lilly and starring Abby McEnany and Julia Sweeney, the series was filmed entirely in Chicago with a hometown cast and crew.
Join Lilly Wachowski in person to watch select episodes of the series Work in Progress, followed by a conversation lead by Stephanie Jeter and Tracy Baim.
