Jump right into these stories from around the world. These stories are both real and imagined. They insipre and entertain and help us gain a better understanding of who we are and how we are all connected.

For Ages 11-14 | 63 minutes | Presented in English and original languages with subtitles.

Themes: Facing challenges, overcoming adversity, fair play, empathy, folktale, oral tradition indigenous story.

Short Films

Ellee (Wanjun Bei, China, 2016, 4 mins): Ellee has a third eye. Feeling ashamed, she always avoids other people. Until one day, by accident, she discovers a truth that she could have never imagined. It is a story about acceptance.

Kintsugi (Cleto Acosta-McKillop, USA, 2023, 8 mins): Based on the Japanese legend of the lucky cats, Kintsugi tells a story about embracing imperfection when a traditional lucky cat of Japan becomes jealous when of newer, modern version of a lucky cat arrives next door.

The Rock Pool Waltz (Marlon Denning, Australia, 2021, 8 min): During COVID lockdown, a boy’s affinity with nature eases his loneliness and leads to an incredible friendship.

Kotoba (Kaede Miyamura, Austrailia, 2022, 11 mins): Surrounded by gibberish in a foreign schoolyard, Hina, a new immigrant, attempts to make friends. She consults with Holly, a self-righteous sheep who helps her make a connection.

The Old Young Crow (Liam LoPinto, USA, 2022, 12 mins): An Iranian boy befriends an old Japanese woman at a graveyard in Tokyo. Through his drawings and reflection, we are taken on a journey of enlightenment.

SHERA (Arun Fulara, India, 2023, 20 mins): When MONU’s parents decide to migrate from their remote Himalayan village to the city, he realizes that he may never be able to see SHERA, the elusive leopard that lives in the forest nearby His best friend RAJU is determined to give him the best parting gift he can think of – a view of SHERA.
