Tiny moviegoers, big imaginations! On Sunday, October 19th, join FACETS and Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble for My First Movies, a playful and engaging film experience designed especially for children ages 2–5.
This special Halloween edition features a gentle lineup of animated shorts about lovable animal friends and autumn adventures, introducing toddlers to the magic of storytelling through cinema. Before and after the screening, families can enjoy fall-themed fun at our art table with pumpkin and leaf crafts, while during the screening, little ones can move, dance, and play along with interactive, witchy, and whimsical activities led by Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble.
Designed with first-time moviegoers in mind, the space offers room to wiggle and explore, with dim (but not dark) lighting for a cozy, welcoming experience. Caregivers and children can sip on cider or juice boxes, relax, and soak in the friendly Halloween spirit while sparking creativity, connection, and a lifelong love for cinema.
Shorts program 39 minutes + 20 minute interactive music activities.
SCREENING ACTIVITIES
Before and after the screening, join us for spooktacular art and movement fun designed just for little ones! Kids can craft their own friendly monster or animal masks, make pumpkin- and leaf-themed creations, and join in playful, movement-based activities led by Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble.
While children explore, play, and sip on juice boxes, grown-ups can relax nearby with a cozy coffee or festive cocktail in hand.
