Short Films

Ramón (Natalia Bernal, Mexico, 2020, 7 mins): Ramón is an energetic 8-year-old boy who lives in Mexico and trains as a competitive kickboxer. As he prepares for a national competition, he discusses what he loves about his sport. 

Marias (Salvador Salazar & Andres Aurelio, USA, 2022, 9 mins): On the hottest summer day, a group of cousins boil on their grandmother’s plastic-covered couch. Kicked outside to play in the fire hydrant, who will have the courage to go back inside and interrupt grandmother’s novellas when something goes wrong?

Balam (Guillermo Casarin, Mexico, 2023, 10 mins): Itzel, a young girl of Mayan descent, goes on a camping trip with her father deep in the jungle. As they stargaze together, Itzel’s curiosity leads her to wander off and explore the surrounding area. Itzel is ready for whatever new discoveries the jungle and the stars have in store for her.

The Piñata (Verónica Ramírez, Mexico, 2020, 13 mins): Lorena sets her sights on the bicycle grand prize of her school’s piñata contest. Learning from her teachers and mother, she creates a unique piñata using her own creative vision. Although worried about her peer’s approval and winning, she gives it her all and creates something truly special.

Aguacuario (Jose Eduardo Castilla Ponce, Mexico, 2023, 20 mins): Under the sun and in the heat of a lonely coast in Veracruz, Mexico. A 10-year-old boy who works handing out jugs of water on a tricycle has an unexpected encounter with a girl his age with which he turns a relationship of rivalry into one of friendship while having an innocent adventure on three wheels.

El Baile (Pedro Pablo Vega Reyes, Columbia, 2021, 15 mins): The girl Andrés likes has invited him to the school dance, but there’s one big problem: his shoe has a hole in it. With only a day left until the dance, Andrés must find a way to fix his shoe and impress his crush. A seemingly small decision changes everything, and Andrés learns that a little bit of kindness can truly go a long way.
