THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MISS SCOTT
Dir. Nicole London | USA | Documentary | 2025 | 83 mins

Chicago Premiere

This feature documentary details the extraordinary life of jazz virtuoso and screen superstar Hazel Scott. A Trinidadian-born immigrant, Scott’s meteoric rise as a jazz talent and major Hollywood star saw her become the first Black American to host her own television show before she was blacklisted during the Red Scare.

Emmy-nominated. The film, directed by Nicole London, features the voice of Emmy Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph reading from Hazel Scott’s unpublished autobiography.

It continues with the Chicago premiere of Teddy Pendergrass: If You Don’t Know Me, which chronicles the soulful rise and inspiring endurance of one of R&B’s greatest voices.
