FACETS is a ``one stop shop`` for filmmakers, wholesalers, and film industry professionals. The Film Industry page provides information about our theatrical and virtual screenings, film distribution, and CICFF submissions and program book.

Screenings

FACETS Cinema is one of the longest running and few remaining independent art-house cinemas in Chicago. Since 1975, we have provided an exhibition outlet for a wide variety of independent, international films, and have hosted special events with Werner Herzog, Robert Altman, and Bela Tarr, among others.

COVID-19 NOTICE

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our theater is currently closed. But we are still programming screenings as part of our Virtual Cinema series. Learn more about how FACETS is helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 on our Health & Safety FAQs.

Cinema Programming

FACETS Cinema has been under the direction of film programmer Charles Coleman for over 20 years. We are dedicated to screening uplifiting diverse storytellers, with a focus on films that are overlooked in the mainstream. We do not accept submissions for our cinema screenings. But if you are a distributor or independent filmmaker looking for theatrical screening opportunities, please contact our Cinema Programming Department.

Equipped with a DCP projection, our 124 seat theater is an affordable venue for intimate private screenings and events. We offer multiple theater rental options with access to our theater and party room for private screenings, birthday parties, business events, and presentations. CICFF Submissions and Program Book

Est. in 1984, FACETS Chicago International Children's Film Festival (CICFF) is the oldest and one of two Oscar-qualifying children’s film festivals in the world. Annually, CICFF accepts submissions for our Official Selection and publishes the CICFF Program Book, a snap shot of the festival available for purchase.

Film Submissions

We are now accepting submissions for the 38th Chicago International Children’s Film Festival (CICFF38), running November 5-17, 2020. Our Festival presents the best, most innovative international films for kids and teens. We seek out films that both entertain audiences and challenge them to widen their perspectives. But more importantly, we seek out films that are made for kids, not simply about them. Learn more about CICFF Film Submission guidelines on our CICFF Submission page here.

Program Book

Film industry professionals can buy the CICFF Program Book to get a snapshot of the festival, line-up with the CICFF37 Program Book, including a full list of festival films and world sales contacts in a password protected PDF.
