Mayor is a real-life political saga following Musa Hadid, the Christian mayor of Ramallah, during his second term in office.

Musa is an engineer by training, and manages a bustling and creative city. He is a Palestinian leader, finding himself in a challenging historical moment, and is persistent in responding to the constraints of military occupation as well as controversial settlements. His immediate goals: repave the sidewalks, attract more tourism, while planning for the Christmas celebrations that are to be held in his city. However, his ultimate mission is to end the occupation of Palestine and this consummate documentary is rich with detailed observation and a surprising amount of humor.

Mayor offers a portrait of dignity amidst the madness and absurdity of endless occupation, providing a remarkable example for the tenacity of Palestinians in the face of asymmetrical violence and systematic obstacles.

Screened in English and Arabic with English subtitles.
