Friday, May 17, 2024, SUPER-HORROR-RAMA! gives small-screen terrors the big-screen treatment with a double feature of nerve-shredding made-for-TV movies, Steven Spielberg’s Duel (1971) at 7pm and John Carpenter’s Someone’s Watching Me! (1978) at 9pm.

2 limited edition pinback buttons are included with every Double Feature Ticket. We’ll also have horror vendors, drink specials, and special giveaways before both films.

Before Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter hit the big time with Jaws (1975) and Halloween (1978), they directed two of television’s greatest cat-and-mouse thrillers, Duel and Someone’s Watching Me!, both of which evoke the pitch-perfect suspense of Alfred Hitchcock.

Referred to by Stephen King as his favorite horror film of the 1970s, Spielberg’s Duel follows an ordinary man driving a compact car through the Mojave Desert who is stalked by a rusted semi-truck with a driver of unknown identity. Due to the success of the original broadcast, Universal asked Spielberg to shoot additional scenes and gave the extended cut an international theatrical release.

Carpenter’s equally tense Someone’s Watching Me! was shot immediately before Halloween and finally broadcast a month after Michael Myers’ haunting debut. The story follows a working woman terrorized by a creepy caller who spies on her from the neighboring high-rise. With an exceptionally endearing cast of characters and strong shades of Rear Window (1954), Someone’s Watching Me! is a creepy delight.

Explore the fear of the unknown from uniquely masculine and feminine perspectives in this double feature of extraordinary television films by two of genre cinema’s most celebrated figures.
